For flooring, tiles are the most commonly used material because they are very durable and available at cheaper price. It is a mixture of Portland cement, polymers such as epoxy and selected aggregate particles with some additives added in it to improve its property for laying tiles.

For fixing tiles on the walls, floors, swimming pools tile adhesives are used. It consist substrate such as cement, wood, glass, etc. They are primarily built using cement, epoxy and polymer.

Tile adhesive is modifiable which does not shrink or crack due to moisture and temperature changes. To prevent crazing and shedding of tiles, tile adhesive is used. Now pre-mixed tile adhesives available in the market. To fix or prevent seeping of water underneath the tiles, they are also used.

Tile adhesive provide more tightness as compared to normal cement-sand mortar. Water proofing functionalities also provided by it i.e. bathrooms, kitchen, swimming pools etc.

Various polymers such as acrylic, latex, epoxy, etc. are added for improving its adhesion properties.

Acrylic makes tile adhesive moisture resistant. To fixing tiles of small sizes, it is used . Ceramic tiles, vitrified tiles, natural stone tiles, etc. can be easily fixed by it.

Latex makes tile adhesive more flexible. Tor exterior, it is ideal, where some movement is required.

Epoxy creates hardness and strength of adhesives. Epoxy is the strongest tile adhesive but is most expensive.
